Boast post...

My lovely daughter, an ex-nurse who doesn't think she's good at much (largely because she's the stay-at-home mum of triplets; but she also fits in running glee clubs in schools and occasionally presenting on QVC TV) has just painted this.

She's always enjoyed (and been good at) art, but this is her first attempt at oil painting, run off in "about an hour-and-half"). Not suprisingly, a friend bought it on the spot, even though she hadn't thought of selling it.

I think it's amazing. But then I can't even draw a stick man without getting into difficulties...

  2. I think it's beautiful. I would happily look at that on the wall in front of me while I'm writing. I love the sky and can sense the movement of the waves on the sand.

    1. I was quite upset that she'd sold it, Joanna, because I wanted it. I have one on order!

  3. Lovely painting. Encourage her and maybe she'll find a new outlet for her talent when she has time between triplets! Really very nice. I'd like to have it on my wall too.

  5. Frances, your daughter is VERY talented - says I, who is by no means an expert, but I know when I like a painting, and I definitely like this one very much. If I were given to more poetic language, I'd say that it "speaks" to me. But since I am not (given to poetic language), all I say is that I can almost hear the sound of the surf crashing against those rocks, and feel the wind tugging at my coat and blowing my hair in front of my eyes.

  6. I do love that painting, Frances - it's the kind of sea scene I would never tire of.

    1. But she was amazed! I don't think she realises how good it is.

  8. I agree with all of the previous comments! Also Frances do not beat yourself up about a tiny bit of boasting....pat yourself on the back for having a lovely daughter, talented artist that she is......and what does she sell on QVC??

    1. She sells shoes! (I won't say what she thinks about the shoes; suffice it to say that watching your daughter lying her head off on TV is an interesting experience...)
