Knickers are a girl's best friend

Well girls, in case you haven't yet compiled a list of your Christmas wants, here's a timely suggestion. Selfridges have launched (ha) a pair of knickers with a real diamond (that's the tiny little thing in the middle); a snip at £235 per pair. The diamond is detachable (how thoughtful), presumably so that it doesn't disappear in the wash to join all those odd socks. Sefridges coyly suggest you wear the knickers on your wedding night (I don't recall needing any knickers at all on my wedding night).

Just a thought.

  1. Already been married twice and not currently planning a third wedding, but should I do so, I shall certainly keep the diamond knickers in mind :-D

  3. I'm not sure how many when would want to discover their brides wearing what look like a pair of Y fronts on their wedding night.

  4. I can think of much better things to spend £235... I think I could buy all my christmas gifts for this year with that sum of money.

  5. Mmmm... they do resemble Y fronts and certainly wouldn't contain my spare tyre!

  6. Good for you, Librarian!

    Kay, I quite agree!

Patsy, come to think of it, yes. They do look just lke Y-fronts (among the most revolting of garments, in my opnion).

Anna, don't you think a spare tyre (I have one of those, too) might look rather interesting dangling over a diamond? Well... perhaps not...

  7. Jarmara, you are quite right. £235 would buy many years' worth of bling-free M&S knickers. Or that lovely woolly thing on your blog...

  8. Hi, Frances. I'm not really qualified to comment on knickers, bejewelled or otherwise. But I am passing on the Friendly Blogger award. I'm not sure if you've had one already but this is for being a welcome visitor to my blog.

  9. Can't say they entice me in the least - and the bling positively puts me off (even if I, or anyone I know, could afford them). Much better uses for that kind of money.

  10. 235 nicker for a pair of knickers. Good value indeed.

  11. Keiith, thanks so much for the award. I try to be friendly! But as I said in reply to your own post, I've already been given that award, and others, but don't know where to put them!

Rosemary, I'm sure there are much better uses for those knickers, too. I mean, who would hide a diamond? This garment would be better worn as a hat (if at all).

    Alan....what can I say?

  12. I wondered if they made a matching equivalent for men, but your reference to 'a tiny little thing in the middle' killed the thought stone dead.

  15. Valance, I like to keep this blog nice and clean. Know what I mean? So - down, boy, or you may find yourself barred.

  16. Yup, loud and clear. Must be the company I keep. Sorry Frances, no offence intended.

  17. If I can hang on till Christmas I shall be 74! The tiny little thing in the middle of my knickers is not a diamond.

  18. Ok, Valance. But no birthday, cake, I'm afraid.

The family jewels then, Doctor FTSE?
